Human Health

Although public healthcare consumes about 11% of the South African government’s budget, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has identified five challenges for healthcare in South Africa. These include the equitable provision of health services, the heavy burden of disease, combating HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, inadequate human resources for health affecting service delivery and the strengthening of the health system. In all of these challenges continuing education can play a meaningful role.

CE at UP offers certificate courses in the following healthcare fields: aerospace medicine, communication pathology, dentistry, general healthcare management, public health, HIV/AIDS, nursing, sport and education. Certain courses in the Human Health portfolio contribute towards continuing professional development points.
